Project Management Essentials

Course Overview:

This session consists of a one-day overview of Project Management, our course is approved by the PMI®, and students who successfully complete this course are awarded 8 PM Contact Hours or Professional Development Units (PDUs) which is documented via a PMI® REP® certificate from Aspira. All of our courses use the latest edition (5th Edition – March 2013) PMBOK Guide® as the core reference. The Introduction to Project Management session is focused on teaching the fundamental management techniques and skills for organising and managing all size projects. The session begins by answering some key questions that anyone new to project management might have such as;

  • What is a Project?
  • How do projects differ from ordinary and ongoing work activities?
  • Why choose Project Management?
  • What are Project Success/Failure Measures

General

  • Explain the basic framework of Project Management, the key process groups and how the processes within each group interact.
  • Explain the structure of the Project Management Body of Knowledge V5.0.
  • Discuss the skills required to apply PM theory to real-life projects.

Scope

  • Understand the elements that make good project scope management important.
  • Explain the scope definition process and how to construct a work breakdown structure.
  • Understand the importance of scope control.

Stakeholders

  • The processes required to identify the people, groups or organizations that could impact or be impacted by the project, to analyse stakeholder expectations and their impact on the project, and to develop appropriate management strategies for effectively engaging stakeholders in project decisions and execution.

Certification exams are administered by third party testing companies such as Pearson Vue or Prometric. Our courses prepare you for the certification exam, which is an additional fee paid to the testing provider.. You must contact Prometric, Pearson Vue or the corresponding testing provider to take a certification exam.

Examination fee of €340 for PMI® members and €465 for non-members (paid directly to the PMI). (This is an indicative cost. Please check www.pmi.org for current details.)
